photo-4I don’t know about you, but when I see ornately carved wood hanging mid-wall, I immediately think it houses hidden buttons that lead to secret passageways. This one pictured is large enough to cover a 3’x3’ opening, which could take me to all sorts of hidden rooms, shortcuts, or even, I daresay, magical realms.

In the middle of my examination of this piece, a friend came along and asked me what I was doing. I told her, and together, we tried to find a secret switch. Unsuccessful, we moved on toward the donuts in the next room, but not before I took this picture to remind myself to write the story.

Everyday—and not so everyday—objects speak a quiet language to the imagination. Tune in to their conversation, and let your curiosity get the better of you this fine Tuesday.

My first book, Upside Down Kingdom, is available on Amazon. I’ll sign it for you.
